SmartStall

A NEW GENERATION OF THERAPEUTIC EQUESTRIAN FLOORING FOR STALLS AND TRAILERS

THEY GIVE YOU WHAT THEY CAN.

Control the Accumulative Effects of:
  • Impact / Concussion / Vibration
  • Damage from Sheer Forces
  • Breathing Particulates

Better Than Hard Surfaces

Hard surfaces and associated bedding, like stiff rubber, packed dirt or gravel and concrete cannot absorb or cushion impact energy. Load forces are re-directed back into legs, joints and tissue resulting in the jolting, harsh return of energy back into the body, which lead to a wide variety of comfort and performance related issues. Horses can become uncomfortable, restless and less productive, just like humans, from standing and working on hard surfaces, and are often seen resting less often and for shorter periods of time when on hard, unforgiving surfaces with bedding. Hard surfaces suspend or trap fluids and promote bacteria growth and odors. Constant maintenance and up-keep is needed to keep stalls and trailers clean. Significant and unnecessary amounts of money is spent on bedding intended to provide cushioning.

SmartCells provide the support, cushioning and responsiveness needed to actively absorb and gently redirect load forces, reducing the need for bedding. SmartCells flooring can be sealed and easily cleaned.

Better Than Soft Surfaces
Softer is not the same as better!

If hard surfaces are bad, there is a temptation to assume soft surfaces are good. Not necessarily! Just like standing on a mattress or walking in sand, soft surfaces may absorb too much energy and overwork muscles and joints which accelerates the onset of fatigue and lead to injuries (the opposite of a hard surface but having similar consequences). Foam becomes harder when compressed, and can break down rapidly as their closed-cell structures rupture. Most foam has only passive responsiveness to compression and will only slowly return to its original resting state. A surface that is too soft can add to the stress on horse's joints, tendons and ligaments, which creates muscular fatigue and can significantly increase fluid accumulation.

SmartCells becomes softer as compressed and actively returns to its original resting state, while providing a balance of stability and instability that encourages the appropriate amount of muscular activity.
SmartCells: Just Right

To provide an optimized surface for resting horses does not mean merely providing a softer surface. It requires a combination of critical elements, working in concert to effectively reduce injuries and support injury recovery efforts.

SmartCells can reduce fatigue and imbalance; aid in the recovery from stiffness and sore, tired legs; positively influence hoof quality; and ease the impact of arthritis, fluid retention, and bone and soft tissue damage.
